Date of Service: Mrs. Koza’s funeral will be held Monday, September 6 , 2021 , 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Presbyterian Church with Dr. Joseph Johnson officiating. Visitation will be in the church sanctuary at 10:00 a.m.- prior to the service. Family has requested for all to please wear masks.

Frances Elizabeth Koza (98), child of God, was born on a farm in Bermuda, Alabama on January 9, 1923 to Sallie and Leroy Watson. The oldest of ten children, she helped to raise her five brothers and four sisters, before graduating from Repton High School and moving to Pensacola Florida for work. She was married to Navy pilot Ralph Edwin Boggs in Dec. 1942.


Following their wedding, she attended The College Of The Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark. Lt. Boggs was killed in 1944 in WWII ‘s Pacific Theatre. In Oct. 1947 she married Navy Pilot Lt. H.D. Koza, to whom she was married for 47 years.


Proceeding her in death were her husbands; parents; brothers- J.F.L. Watson, Marion Watson, Carl Watson, Willard Ray Watson, Warren L. Watson, and one sister-Quida Faye Watson James, and son in law Frank McNulty.


Mrs. Koza is survived by three sisters: June Parrish, Ann Barber, Peggy Sue Morris; her children- Rebecca Boggs Koza, Dee Koza Jamison, and Harold Donald Koza, Jr.; one daughter in law- Sheila Campbell Koza; one son in law -David C. Jamison; two grandchildren- Jonathan Koza and Jacob Koza; one great-grandson- Harrison Koza ; and a great-granddaughter- Natalie Koza.


She spent many years as a Navy wife, and in 1963 the family moved to Dothan, Alabama, where Mrs. Koza was one of Dothan’s first Women Real Estate Agents, working for 20 years. She was an active member of Evergreen Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, and Presbyterian Women’s Leader. It was known that when recruiting volunteers, people would say that they would just get Fran Koza to call because no one could say “NO “to her. Mrs. Koza was active in Business and Professional Women’s Club, The Ladies of The Elk, and The Retired Military Wives Club. She was known for her ingenuity, compassion, and cleverness! Above all else, she loved her God, her family, and her friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Mission Outreach Ministry of Evergreen Presbyterian Church or to the local Food Bank in Mrs. Koza’s name, is encouraged.
