Frances Marie Goodwin, 88, of Dothan passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.


Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 13,2011 at Saint Columba Catholic Church Chapel with Reverned Patrick Gallagher officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial service will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Georgia. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations made be to Saint Columbia Catholic Church or Wesley Manor 718 Honeysuckle Road, Dothan, Al 36303.


Mrs. Goodwin was born August 17, 1923 in Wilmington, Delaware. She was a graduate of P.S. Dupont High School in Wilmington. She worked with All American Airlines in Wilmington and News Day Newspaper in New York in her early years. She later worked with Warner Robins Animal Hospital in Warner Robins, Georgia for 30 plus years prior to moving to Dothan in 2005 where she resided at Wesley Manor. She was a true American Patriot, who loved animals and the Georgia Bulldogs. She especially enjoyed family trips to the beach throughout her lifetime.


Survivors include her three children, Putney Goodwin of Belleville, Illinois, Nancy Brown of Stone Mountain Georgia, Tim (Dell) Goodwin of Dothan, Alabama; six grandchildren Lt. Col Kelly Brown, Bobby Brown, Trey (April) Goodwin, Tyler Goodwin, Christy (Lee) Bullard, John Goodwin; three great grandchildren, several great grand dogs, and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Putney Goodwin.


The family would like to extend a special thank you to Father Gallagher, staff and residents of Wesley Manor, Dr. Adetumji Adaraloge (Dr. Ade) and Harry and Mary Houseman of Carrillon Beach Chapel.
