Franklin Davis Shelley, 87, of Phenix City, AL died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) on Saturday, November 11, 2023 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. James Harbert officiating.  Interment will follow at 3:00 PM (EST) or 2:00 PM (CST) at New Zion Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in the Tumbleton Community, near Headland, AL. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EST) at the funeral home. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of local arrangements

Mr. Shelley was born January 11, 1936 in Henry County, AL son of the late Tom Shelley and Mahala Davis Shelley. He was the owner/operator of Shelley Equipment Company for over 40 years. Mr. Shelley loved playing his harmonica for anyone who wanted to listen. He also enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Shelley was a long-time member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. He will be missed by his family and friends, but never forgotten by them.

Mr. Shelley was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mahala Shelley; two brothers, Charles and Brooks Shelley and two sisters, Mary Davis and Dean Ridley.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bobbie Dykes Shelley; two sons, Jimmy Shelley and Bert Shelley (Tammy); two grandsons, Nicholas “Nick” Leach and Brooks Shelley (Lauren); one brother, Wade Shelley (Gayle); several nieces, nephews and friends.
