Franklin Eugene “Gene” Sewell of New Brockton, AL passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. He was 82 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Earles officiating. Burial will follow in the Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Mr. Sewell was born on October 24, 1940 to the late Franklin Daniel and Ora Mae Hawthorne Sewell. Gene was happiest when he was catching catfish out of the Pea River.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Crystal Morris; son-in-law, Ricky Taylor; and three siblings.

Mr. Sewell is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann Parker Sewell of New Brockton, AL; two sons, Larry Sewell (Louise) of Sweet Gum Head, FL, and Terry Sewell of the Asbury Community; one daughter, Sheila Taylor of New Brockton, AL; four grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters.
