Date of Service: A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 30, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society.

Gail Farmer, a resident of Headland, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at a local hospital. She was 73.


A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 30, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society.


Mrs. Farmer was born on July 27, 1946 in Miami, Florida and lived there the early years of her life. She moved all around Florida with her family in her younger years. Mrs. Farmer completed her nursing degree in Miami and moved to Dothan to begin her career at a local nursing home and later worked with Southeast Health. She retired after 20 years. Mrs. Farmer enjoyed crafts, spending time with her family and her pets. Before her retirement Mrs. Farmer enjoyed bowling with her league.


Survivors include her husband, Lamar Farmer; her daughter, Lori Blackshear; her 2 grandchildren, Joe Mensack and John Mensack; and her brother, Kevin Blackshear.
