George Wesley “G.W.” Whitaker of Ponce Inlet, FL and formerly of Bonifay, FL passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020. He was 86 years old.

Graveside services will be held for the family on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Carmel Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Rev. Roger Davon Whitaker officiating and Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Whitaker was born in Geneva, AL on December 25, 1933 to the late King Lester and Grace Peel Whitaker. Mr. G.W. enjoyed working on his farm. Mr. Whitaker absolutely adored his family and loved spending time with them. He was a great father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lalay Elizabeth Moore Whitaker; one brother, Donald Whitaker; and one sister, Effie Hogan.

He is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Petrov and husband Steve of Ponce Inlet, FL; two granddaughters, Cheryl Plasterer and husband Scott, and Lori Kempton and husband Brian; two great grandchildren, Brycen and Zoe Kempton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
