Mr. Gerald D. Knowles of W. Pullum St., Samson, Alabama passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015.  He was 77.

Memorialization will be by cremation with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2015, in the New Life Worship Center with Rev. Jack Chancy officiating.

Mr. Knowles was born August 18, 1938, in Samson, Alabama to the late J. D. and Annie Melissa Mitchell Knowles.  He enjoyed being outdoors and believed hard work never hurt anyone.  He was a very loving husband and father and was totally devoted to his family.

In addition to his parents, two sisters, Bernice Mock and Pansy Cardwell, as well as one brother, Sammy Knowles preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Noreen Knowles of Samson, AL; five children: Patricia Diane Freeman of Chipley, FL, Thomas Edwin Knowles of Samson, AL, Timothy Eldon (Rebecca) Knowles of Daleville, AL, Tammy Elizabeth  Knowles (Eddie Johnson) of NC, Tarry J.D. (Rebecca) Knowles, Sr. of Montgomery, AL; two brothers: Bobby J. (Sandy) Knowles of Enterprise, AL, and Dwight (Ellen) Knowles of Samson, AL; four sisters: Dorothy Stanton Driggers of Samson, AL, Estelle Simmons of Dothan, AL, Doris Martin, and Lillian Lawson of Orlando; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, other extended family and friends.
