Gerald Nolan Cherry

Gerald Nolan Cherry, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. He was 87.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 4:30 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Alderman officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1461 Timbers Dr., Dothan, AL 36301.

Gerald was born on April 22, 1934 in Dothan, AL and lived in Dothan his entire life. He was a graduate of Dothan High School and attended Troy University. After school, he worked at Young Drug Store then became the director of Information Systems for Southeast Alabama Medical Center. After retirement, he loved traveling to Alabama football games in his RV.Gerald was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lois Cherry; his first wife, Jane Barnhill Cherry; and his brother, Roy Cherry, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Cherry; his children, Clint (Delcy) Cherry, Kevin Cherry and Trish (Brian) Sykes; his grandchildren, Tessa Cherry, Addelyn Cherry, S.J. Phillips, Fletcher Phillips and Mel Phillips; four great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Charlotte Cherry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
