A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Womack officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5-7 pm.

Glenn Allen Pate, a lifelong resident of Ashford, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. He was 68 years old.


A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Womack officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5-7 pm.


Glenn was born on October 5, 1954 in Donalsonville, Georgia to Jack and Elsie Brown Pate and lived all of his life in Ashford. He was a 1974 graduate of Ashford High School. Glenn started his agricultural career working with the Ashford Gin Company and in 1985 he founded The Dixie Peanut Company and Pate Fertilizer Company. Glenn along with his family has owned and operated both companies for the past 37 years. Loving the great outdoors, Glenn enjoyed an annual quail hunt at Covey Rise in Camilla, Georgia with his son Connor, his grandson, Jake, and several close friends. He also loved fishing in Apalachicola, Florida.


Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Inez Brown Pate, his brothers, John Pate, Jerome Pate, Charles Pate, and Terry Pate, by his sister, Sue Johnson, and by his mother-in-law, Peggy Bud Shelley.


Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Barbara Pate; his son, Connor (Sara) Pate; his daughters, Jenni (Will) Rector, Stephanie (Randy) Sanders, and Amanda Linn Pate; his grandchildren, Milli Smith and Jacob Linn; his aunt, Martha Smith; his sisters, Faye (Jerry) Knight and Denise (Greg) Tate; and several nieces and nephews.
