Gloria Faye Early, of the Earlytown Community, passed away at Wiregrass Medical Center on Monday, December 17, 2018.  She was 80.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Evangelist Kevin Presley, officiating. Burial will follow at Earlytown Church of Christ Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Earlytown Church of Christ Building or Cemetery Fund, 648 Cassie Rd. Kinston, AL 36453.


 


Miss Early was born in Samson, Alabama on April 27, 1938, to the late Homer M. and Ethel Free Early.  She was a lifelong and faithful member of the Earlytown Church of Christ.  She received a Masters Degree in Education from Troy State University.  Prior to her retirement, Miss Early taught English at Geneva High School for thirty-four years.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice E. Boothe.


 


She is survived by her brother, Paul Early (Martha) of Kinston; sister, Billie June Smith (Donald) of Ethridge, TN; three nieces, Kristy Schuerer (Michael) of Decatur, AL, Alicia Haggermaker (Jesse) of Huntsville, AL, and Beverly Rosier (Mike) of Leslie, MI; and three nephews, James Smith (Terra), and daughters, Addie and Laney Smith of Lawrenceburg, TN, Jason Smith (Julie), and daughter, Paige Smith of Springfield, MO, and Jerome Early (Marissa) and son, Eli Early of Opp, AL.
