In Loving Memory of Sherree: The Sassy Matriarch of the Barrette family.

Grace Sherree Barrette of Opp passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024. She was 65. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva.  The family will receive friends on Monday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Sherree, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, left this world on Leap Day 2024. She was sassy, and her wit and charm brought laughter and joy to all who knew her.

With a vibrant personality, Sherree always had a clever comeback ready to go. Whether it was a snarky remark or a cleverly timed joke, she had the power to turn any dull moment into a sidesplitting affair. Even during her final days, she managed to crack a smile and deliver one last punchline that had us all in tears of laughter.

Known for her unwavering loyalty, Sherree was the kind of person who would stand by your side through thick and thin. She was the first to offer a helping hand or a listening ear whenever someone needed it. Her loyalty extended beyond her family to her beloved friends, who will forever cherish the sass-filled memories they shared together.

As a mother, Sherree was unparalleled. She had the remarkable ability to balance love and discipline with just the right amount of sass. Her children will always remember her hilarious parenting techniques that managed to keep them in line while also bringing a smile to their faces. And as a grandmother and great grandmother, she showered her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with an abundance of love, laughter, and of course, her signature sassy wisdom.

Sherree’s impact on our lives cannot be measured solely by the laughter she brought. She was a pillar of strength and resilience, teaching us to face life’s challenges head-on with a sassy attitude. She reminded us that life is too short to take ourselves too seriously, and that a little sass can go a long way in brightening someone’s day.

As we bid farewell to our beloved Sherree, let us remember her for the incredible woman she was – sassy, loyal, and well-loved. May her sassiness live on in our hearts, and may we continue to spread laughter and joy, just as she did throughout her remarkable life. Rest in sass, dear Sherree. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse Senn and Jerry Senn; and a sister, Renea Bryant.

She was survived by her husband, Skip Barrette; mother, Grace Senn; sister, Marie Sutley, all of Opp, four children, Bo Barrette (Anna) of South Carolina, Jennifer Likens (Will), Johnathan Barrette (Stephanie), both of Enterprise, and Phillip Barrette (Carmen Tate) of Andalusia; seven grandchildren, Calista (Collin) Owens, Caleb Barrette (Gracie Todd), Calyn Barrette, Tristen Ralph (Brandon), Stephen Likens, Emma Barrette, and Jenna Barrette; and three great-grandchildren, Truitt Owens, Lennon Owens, and Oliver Ralph.
