Gwendolyn Cotton Haney of Samson, AL passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. She was 82 years old.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward with Rev. Marcus Ramer and Rev. Danny Burns officiating. Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Cottondale Cemetery in Cottondale, FL with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 noon.


The family kindly requests those who are planning to attend the services for Mrs. Haney to please wear a facial covering and practice social distancing due to the ongoing pandemic.


Mrs. Haney was born in Cottondale, FL on August 16, 1938 to the late Earl Moses and Ethelinda Merchant Cotton. Mrs. Haney faithfully served the Lord with a willing heart alongside her husband, Rev. Coy Haney for 49 years. She enjoyed traveling and fishing. Mrs. Haney served as president of resident council for Wiregrass Nursing Home. She won the Wiregrass Nursing Home queen title in 2019. She went on to place 2nd runner up in the Alabama Nursing Home Association Pageant 2019.  


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Coy Haney; one daughter, Barbara Gail Haney; two brothers, Cecil Cotton and Earl Moses Cotton, Jr.; one sister, Margie Ellen Gainey.


She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Rouse (Rev. Fred) of Dothan, AL, Ruth Jett (Owen) of Albany, GA, and Patricia Burns (Rev. Danny) of Sunny Hills, FL; one son, Norman David Haney of Samson, AL; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Hightower of Tallahassee, FL; and one brother, Henry Wilmer Cotton (Alice) of Tallahassee, FL.


Serving as pallbearers will be, Coy Tidwell, James Green, Levi Green, Nik Jett, Max Jett, and Justin Crosby.
