Gwendolyn Dunning, age 88, formerly of Midland City, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019, at Westside Terrace.


Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Memphis Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Tate and Reverend Rick Glenn officiating.  Burial will follow at Memphis Baptist Church Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.


The family will receive friends Friday, January 25, 2019, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Glover Funeral Home Chapel.  Flowers will be accepted.


Gwen was born on November 23, 1930 in Dothan, AL, to the late Ed and Lemmie Davis Cherry.   She was a 1949 graduate of Rehobeth High School and was employed as a data processer for the City of Dothan until her retirement.  Gwen enjoyed cooking and sewing; and was a member of Memphis Baptist Church.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Johnny Dunning; her brother, Jerome Cherry and a sister, Patsy Boyette.


Survivors include 2 sons, Mike (Linda) Dunning and Mark (Angela) Dunning; 7 grandchildren Brad (Charlsie) Dunning, David Dunning, Mary Hannah (Damon) Owens, Suzanne (Drake) Key, Emily (Vince) Jernigan, Ward Smith and Sydney Smith; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers Johnny Mack (Sara) Cherry, Ronnie Cherry and Ken (Virginia) Cherry.


Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Dunning, David Dunning, Ward Smith, Parker Jernigan, Vince Jernigan, Drake Key, Damon Owens, and Thomas Jernigan.
