Harold David “Dock” Barnes, Sr. of Geneva passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022.  He was 93. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Adam Carlee officiating.  A private burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing. The family will receive friend prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.


 


Mr. Barnes was born in Hartford, AL on August 1, 1929, to the late Bud and Bessie Cullifer Barnes.  Mr. Barnes was employed as a mechanic at Ward Motor Company, and he later worked as the truck manager at Fleming Wholesale. He retired from the Army National Guard.  In retirement, he enjoyed gardening, raising roses, and photography. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Bodiford; and seven of his siblings.


 


He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Anna Ree Barnes; son, David Barnes, all of Geneva; daughter, Vicky Barnes of Ozark; grandson, Bradley Bodiford (Katie) of Jacksonville, FL two great grandchildren, Brendan Bodiford and Clara Bodiford; sister, Betty Sue Bottoms of Geneva; brother, Edward “Buddy” Barnes of Hartford; and his son-in-law, John Bodiford (Mary Anne) of Opelika.
