Harry H. Herrington, 86, formerly of Wewahitchka, Florida, died Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Enterprise Health & Rehabilitation Center.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise with Reverend Bobby Weeks officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing.  Pallbearers will be Will Mathis, Zack Mathis, Derek Weeks, Chris Herrington, and Scott Herrington.  Honorary pallbearers are Gene Jambor of Okemos, MI; Robert Nedley of Port St. Joe, FL; Rex Addison of Enterprise, AL.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.


Mr. Herrington was born September 26, 1928 in Coffee County to the late Thomas H. and Annie Johnson Herrington.  He was enlisted with the Army Air Corp and received the WWII Victory Medal.  He lived most of his life in Port St. Joe, FL working as an educator.  He was a teacher and a coach.  For many years, he was the principal of Port St. Joe Elementary School and later retired as assistant superintendent of Gulf County Schools.


Survivors include two sisters and a brother: Shirley O’Connor, Mazie Hartford (Don), and Frank Herrington, all of Coffee Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
