Helen Ash, a resident of Midland City, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was 87.


A private funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Jackson Glover officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A public visitation will be Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 4-6 pm at Sunset Funeral Home. The family requests that all visitors abide by the current CDC guidelines.


Mrs. Ash was preceded in death by her parents, Jay Y. and Pecola Glover Vickers;husband, Ned Otis Ash; one son, Bobby Ray Ash; and one daughter, Hazel Lee Ash; and five siblings.


She is survived by six sons, Charles (Fannie Mae) Otis Ash, Arthur David Ash, Wallace (Vivian) Ash, James (Kimberly) Louis Ash, Ted Theodore Ash, and Dennis Earl Ash; two daughters, Wanda Lee Ash and Sahronda Ash; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Chase, Michelle Green, Adam Ash, Kameron J. Ash, Bryan Ash, Daja Parker, and James L Ash Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Juluis Parker, Karrington Winston, Trinity Chase, Serenity Chase, Adrianna Green, Sean Green, and Aiden Green; six siblings, Shirley (Jerimah) Thompson, Alice Aird, Sarah Whitehead, Anis Scott, Charles (Lula) Vickers, and Robert J. (Carol) Vickers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
