DOTHAN…Henrietta Brackin Gray, a resident of Dothan, died Friday morning, October 9, 2015, in Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was 79.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 12, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jack Wingate officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery, Dothan. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Henrietta Gray was born and reared in Columbia, daughter of the late Rufus Brackin, Sr. and Verna Mildred Smith Brackin. She lived in Dothan all her adult lifetime where she was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Henrietta retired from WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville after over thirty years employment. Her hobby was playing dominoes and bingo and she was the regional domino champion for the area nursing homes. Henrietta was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Holmes, Mildred Newman and Betty Parker.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Sherri Brown and Tammie Lynn Walker (Kenneth) all of Dothan; three sisters, Shirley Bumpus, Columbia; Nelda Prokopchuk (Don), Panama City, FL; Cathy Ross (Bobby), Headland; a brother, Rufus (Buster) Brackin, Jr., Columbia; five grandchildren, Mallory, Shey, Christine, Je’Naun and Samantha; six great-grandchildren.
