Herman Levi Massey of Coffee Springs, AL passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 75 years old.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2021 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. W.H. Wilson and Rev. Jimmy Eddins officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Coffee Springs, AL with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m.


Mr. Massey was born in Geneva County, AL on November 16, 1945 to the late Henry Jackson and Erma Howell Massey. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing softball and watching Auburn Tiger Football. His greatest possession in life was his relationship with Jesus Christ and family. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Herman proudly served his country in the Army National Guard where he retired after 39 years of dedicated service. Mr. Massey was currently serving as mayor of Coffee Springs at the time of his death.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Chelsea Anne Bradley; two sisters, Christine Massey Taylor, and Mary Massey Kelley.


He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Massey of Coffee Springs, AL; one daughter, Melanie Massey McLean (Andy) of Enterprise, AL; one son, Brian Massey (Wendy) of Coffee Springs, AL; five grandchildren, Tyler McLean, Trey Bradley, Megan Massey, Brian Massey, Jr, and Levi Massey; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Massey; and several nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank DaySpring Hospice of Enterprise for their compassionate love and care that they provided.
