DOTHAN…Hilda Kirkland Ward, a resident of Dothan, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 11, 2021, in a Dothan hospital. She was 92.

   Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 14, 2021, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 416 Bethlehem Road, Midland City, with Reverend Paul Edenfield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday in the church sanctuary.

   Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 416 Bethlehem Road, Midland City, AL 36350.

   Mrs. Ward was born in Panama City, Florida, daughter of the late Early B. Kirkland and Annie Lou Tice Kirkland. She lived most of her lifetime in Dothan where she was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil M. Ward, a grandson, Jeremy Heath Ward, two sisters, Catherine Richards and Voncille Kirkland, a brother, Pete Kirkland, and her grandmother, Alethea Kirkland, who helped raise her.

   Surviving relatives include two daughters, Cordelia Leadore, Deland, FL; and Judy Phillips (Tommy), Dothan; her son, Danny Ward (Debra K.), Piedmont, SC; two step-children, Delores Tucker and Donald Ward; a sister, Earline Gilmore; two brothers, Jimmy Kirkland and Bobby Kirkland; eight grandchildren, Jason Ward (Kendall), April Shepard (Charles), Kristie Bell (Michael), Danielle Adams (John David), Matthew Dubberly, Jon Denham (Allison), Chaise Phillips and Chad Phillips (Taylor); numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her special friend, Louise Marchman; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law from the Ward Family.

   Serving as active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Cason Ward, Jason Ward, Jon Denham, Michael Bell, Matt Bell, Matt Dubberly, Dawson Hughes and Devon Shepard.
