  HUBERT  MONEY

 

ABBEVILLE. . . Hubert Money, a resident of Byron, Georgia, formerly of Abbeville, died Saturday afternoon, December 31, 2011, in the Carl Vinson V.A. Medical Center in Dublin, Ga. He was 87.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, in the Calvary Baptist Church with a son, Robin Money and Reverend Thomas D. Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the church sanctuary.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.

            Mr. Money was born and reared in Henry County, son of the late James Cephas Money and Queen Esther Blalock Money. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and also the Korean War. Mr. Money lived in Abbeville most of his lifetime before moving to Byron, Ga. in 2006. He was a member of Freedom Fellowship in Abbeville. Mr. Money was formerly employed by the City of Abbeville as Police Chief and later as Superintendent of the Henry County Sanitation Department. He  was preceded in death his wife, Sue Blalock Money, two sisters, Eunice Money and Mildred Money, a brother, Rupert Money and a son-in-law, John Edward Turner.

            Surviving relatives include three daughters, Debbie Davis, St. Augustine, FL; Karen Turner, Fruitland Park, FL; Cindy VanHoy and husband, Frank, Owings, MD; three sons, Ronnie Huff and wife, Laurel; Donnie Money and wife, Melanie, all of St. Augustine, FL; Robin Money and wife, Dixie, Byron, GA; three sisters, Florence Armstrong and Myrtle Moring and husband, Billy, all of Abbeville; Barbara Chrouser and husband, Daniel, Colorado; two brothers, Rudolph Money, Abbeville; Jim Money and wife, Ruth, Columbus, GA; a sister-in-law, Lucille Money, Abbeville;  seventeen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
