IRENE  HARRISON  STEVENS


 


NEWTON . . . Irene Harrison Stevens, a resident of Newton, died Friday afternoon, December 16, 2011, at her home. She was 85.



            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2011, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Stacy Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens in Ozark. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Headland.



            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL. 36303 or Southside Baptist Church, 423 E. Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL. 36301.



            Mrs. Stevens was born and reared in the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, daughter of the late James William Harrison and Kathryn (Kate) Hayman Harrison. She formerly lived in Ozark, the Christian Hill community near Echo, and also Dothan before moving to Newton in 2009. Mrs. Stevens was a member of the Baptist faith. She was retired as an Inspector from Phillips-Van Heusen in Ozark after thirty-two years employment. Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn D. Stevens and three brothers, Furnie Harrison, Bob Harrison and Clarence Harrison. She enjoyed Braves baseball, Alabama football and loved Lake Eufaula.



            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Kay Stevens Tolbert and husband, Roger Tolbert, Newton, AL.; a son, Scott Stevens and wife, Kay Bradshaw Stevens, Dothan, AL; a sister, Elma Rosser Hutto, Hartford, AL; formerly of the the Bethel Community, near Echo; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Harrison, Hammond, LA; and Ethel Stevens, Echo Community;  two grandchildren, Keith Reynolds and wife, Liza; and Brock Stevens and wife, Erin; four great-grandchildren, Kristopher Kain Reynolds, Carter Malone Stevens, Reagan Rose Stevens and Preston Owens Stevens.



            Serving as active pallbearers will be Ken Bradshaw, Keith Reynolds, Brock Stevens, Bryan Harper, Bill Rosser, Tommy Rosser and Steve Stevens.
