EDWIN COMMUNITY. . .Jack S. Ross, a resident of Henry County, near the Edwin Community, died Thursday, February 4, 2021, of injuries sustained in a tree cutting accident. He was 89.

   Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 8, 2021, in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Grimes Community, near Dothan, with Reverend George Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Social distancing guidelines and masks will be observed. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

   Mr. Ross was born and reared near Dothan. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War era. Mr. Ross attended Troy University and received a degree in Economics from Auburn University. He was retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his father, Cyrus William Ross, his mother, Nora Brown Ross Collins, an infant sister, and a brother, Cyrus “Bill” Ross, Jr.

   Surviving relatives include his wife, Peggy Kite Ross; two daughters, Rhonda Ross McRoy (Mark), Roanoke, VA; and Lori Ross Sherman (Jeff), Indialantic, FL; four grandchildren, Logan McRoy, Brock McRoy, Carson McRoy and Ryan Miller.
