Mr. Jack Weekley of  Opp Alabama passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012. He was 85.


 


Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mike Shirah officiating. Burial will follow at Rhodes Cemetery, Kinston, AL with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.


 


The family asked that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Gentiva Hospice of Enterprise, or the charity of your choice.


 


Mr. Weekley was born May 20, 1927, in Baldwin County to the late John R. and Ruby Lee Cooper Weekley. He was a member of Maple Ave. Baptist Church. He retired from the U. S. Army as an E-8; he also retired from the Alabama State Troopers. Mr. Weekley served as Geneva County Coroner, and gave the safety report for Alabama State Troopers on WTVY.


 


In addition to his parents, his first wife of 60 years, Merle Weekley preceded him in death.


 


Survivors include his wife, Peggy Weekley, Opp; four daughters: Carolyn Weekley Phillips (Ronnie), Kinston, Sharon Lynn Weekley Hobbs, Enterprise, Joan Allison Weekley Johnson (Bill), Prattville and Shannon Virginia Burns (Tommy), Geneva;  two sons: Stephen Weekley (Sue), Enterprise and Travis Weekley (Nancy) Vidalia, GA; one stepdaughter, Penny Harrell (John) Opp; one sister, Henry Ann Moore, Kinston; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
