Jackie Barnes

John (Jackie) Barnes has gone to be with God. He was 61.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Bob Sanders and Tim Willis. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Thursday prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in his name to Westside Terrace or Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Dothan, AL.

Jackie was born April 29, 1954 in Homestead, FL and graduated South Dade High School in 1974. He was manager of Ragged Edge Resort in Islamorada, Florida Keys for over 10 years. Prior to that Jackie worked for the family businesses farming, and later with Key Largo Air Service.

Jackie loved people. He also loved flying, hunting and fishing and was a great cook. For the past several years he was a resident of Westside Terrace in Dothan.

Jackie was preceded in death by his father, Jack Barnes.

He leaves behind his mother, Jo Ann Barnes of Dothan, AL; brother, Bob Barnes and sister, Patty Barnes, both of Dothan, AL, brother and sister-in-law, Damon and Julie Barnes of Davenport, FL; nephew, Joshua Cunningham of Kalamazoo, MI; nieces, Stacy Barnes and Brianna Haszonics of Dothan, AL, Rosina and London Barnes of Davenport, FL; aunts and uncles, Margaret and Tom Dolar of Dothan, AL and Cecillia Ann Burrichter of Fayette, AL; numerous cousins in Florida and Alabama.
