JAMES  A.  DAUGHTRY, SR.

ABBEVILLE. . .James A. Daughtry, Sr, a resident of Abbeville, died early Saturday afternoon, July 28, 2018, at his home. He was 85.

            Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, July 30, 2018, in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery with Darden Kirby officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abbeville Fire & Rescue, 201 Bradley Street, Abbeville,  AL 36310.

            Mr. Daughtry was born in the Arguta Community of Dale County and was reared in Ozark, son of the late Jesse James Daughtry and Lillie Mae Childree Daughtry. He moved with his family to Abbeville as a teenager and was a graduate of Abbeville High School. Mr. Daughtry was a member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church. He was retired as the owner and operator of Daughtry’s Garage in Abbeville. Mr. Daughtry was preceded in death by a son, James Arland “Bodie” Daughtry, Jr.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Rachel Robison Daughtry; a daughter, Daphne Perry (Tony), and a son, Eric Ashley Daughtry, all of Abbeville; four sisters, Margaret Owens (William), Dothan; Nell Olds, Bainbridge, GA; Carolyn Jacobs, Huntsville, AL; and Barbara Bacon (Bill), Rapid City, SD; three grandchildren, Brandy Frazer (Mike), Joshua Volf and Ashley Paulk; five great-grandchildren, Katie Frazer, Allison Frazer, Ian Frazer, Isaiah Paulk and Grace Paulk; several nieces and nephews.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Harold Robison, Jr., Jamie Trawick, Joshua Volf, Steve Flournoy, Colby Finney and Travis Crowley.
