Mr. James Andrew Mathews of Westville, Florida passed away Friday June 10, 2022, at the age of 83.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan West officiating and burial will follow in the Midway Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until funeral service time.

James was born January 9, 1939, in Panama City, Florida to the late Joel Archie and Mary Ardella Stanley Mathews. He was a retired truck driver from Fleming Foods. James was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to fish, garden and fixing all mechanical things but most of all he loved his family.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his son Christopher Lee Mathews and two brothers: Billy Joe Mathews and Charles Bobby Mathews.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Fannie Ruth Mathews; three children; Michael (Sherll) Mathews, Stan (Lisa) Mathews and Jan (Kenny) Royals; nine grandchildren:  David Mathews, Brandi Mathews, Steven (Stacey) Mathews, Andy (Ashley) Royals, Kevin (Chasity) Royals, Hayden (Chelsea) Mathews, Colby Mathews, Reagan (Matt) Smith and Peyton Mathews; five sibling; Joel Tommy Mathews, Alice (Bill) McRay, Winston (Joan) Mathews, Louise (Curtis) Edison and Larry (Charlotte) Mathews; sister-in-law; Adice Mathews fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild,  and  numerous special nieces and nephews.
