DOTHAN. . .James E Riley, a resident of Dothan, died late Friday afternoon, November 9, 2012, at his home. He was 87.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 11, 2012, in the Trinity Baptist Church, Headland, with Reverend Dan Sheppard officiating and a eulogy to be given by Jackie Hand. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church, P.O. Box 166, Headland, AL 36345.


            Mr. Riley was born and reared in Dale County, near Midland City, son of the late C B Riley and Vera Mae Walker Riley. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Riley formerly lived in Dothan and Headland before moving to the Mt. Enon community of Houston County in 2004. He was a charter member of the Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Riley was retired from Sikorsky at Fort Rucker as an aircraft mechanic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Corene Granberry Riley, a sister, Willene Riley and a brother, Tommy Riley.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Cynthia Reeves and husband, Michael, Dothan; and Kimberly Gamble and husband, Ikey, Dothan; five step-children from the Granberry family; two sisters, Bobbie Uptain and husband, Charles, Dothan; and Janice Marino and husband, Paul, Midland City; a sister-in-law, Joann Riley, Dothan; a brother, Roger Riley and wife, Carol, Midland City; four grandchildren, Stephanie McLain (Stephen), Todd Reeves (Amber), LaShay Cortes (Rob), and Stuart Gamble; one step-grandchild, Michelle Dameron; five great-grandchildren, Griffin Reeves, Bryson Reeves, Emma Grayce Reeves, A. J. Cortes and Madyson McLain; two step great-grandchildren, Nellie Kate and Gray Dameron; several nieces and nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Todd Reeves, Stuart Gamble, Stephen McLain, Larry Parker, David Parker, James Hodgson and Bill Jack Granberry.
