James Edward Tharp, 68, passed away on October 16, 2018 at Southeast Alabama Health. Per James’ request no services will be held and cremation rites will be accorded. Ward Wilson has been entrusted with arrangements.

James was born on May 24, 1950; the son of J.M. and Lucille (Worrell) Tharp.  On March 17, 1969 he married Janice Avery; to this union three children were born and they later divorced. He owned Tharp’s plumbing and electric for 40 years. James was a true outdoorsman he would spend time fishing and deer hunting. He also enjoyed Alabama Football and NASCAR.

Left to cherish James’ memories are his three children Tammy (Randy) Armstrong, Billy (Karen) Tharp and Chad Tharp. Five grandchildren: Brandon and Will Tharp, Ellana (Norman) Newsome, Holly and Bo Sizemore. Five great-grandchildren: Bailey, Brailynn, Dawson, Everly and baby Aurora. Also surviving are four sisters: Brenda Beach, Nancy Webb, Sandra Hendley and Pam Parrish; three brothers: Allen Worrell, Robert McCord and Jimmy Tharp and the mother of the surviving children Janice Tharp. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Billy Frank Tharp.
