James Fred Lewis, Sr. of Enterprise, AL passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 in Enterprise.  He was 84.


Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. Olivia Poole officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00AM until service time.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:  St. Luke UMC Building Fund, 201 Heath Street, Enterprise, AL  36330 or to Kindred Hospice, 1200 Rucker Blvd. Suite A, Enterprise, AL  36330.


Our Lord’s servant was a respected and loved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.  He was a dedicated member of St. Luke United Methodist Church for 59 years.  He retired from Alabama Power Company after 42 years of employment.  He was a Rotarian and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow and also honored as Enterprise Man of The Year.


Survivors include his wife, Betty H. Lewis, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Sonja Helms (Bob), Enterprise, AL; son Fred Lewis, Jr. (Karren), Enterprise, AL; 4 grandchildren, Sally Pittman (Craig), Enterprise, AL, Penny Turner (Nick), Enterprise, AL, Derek Lewis (Betsy), Opelika, AL, Lynsi Lewis, San Diego, CA; 6 great-grandchildren, Craig Pittman III, Layne Pittman, John Robert Pittman, Reese Turner, Will Turner and Ben Turner all of Enterprise, AL; sister, Janice Bell, Old Town, FL; brother, Bill Lewis, Ft. Worth, TX. 


The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregivers, Debra Wesley and Sarah Jones; and to the RN’s, CNA’s and the staff on Hall 4 of Enterprise Health and Rehab.
