James George Blevins


 


James George Blevins, a resident of Dothan, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012, at Noland Hospital in Dothan. He was 89.


 


Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Enon Church of Christ with Minister Mike Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time on Thursday.


 


Mr. Blevins was born December 24, 1922 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II and was retired from the Houston County Road and Bridge Department. Mr. Blevins was a member of Enon Church of Christ.


 


Mr. Blevins is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Alyne Blevins, a brother and two sisters.


 


Survivors include a daughter, Betty Hopkins of Ashford; a grandson, Steve Hopkins of Ashford; a granddaughter, Scarlett Hopkins of Alaska; four great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Montgomery of Arkansas; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, A.D. and Carolyn Moss of Dothan; several nieces and nephews; and many friends including his church family.
