HEADLAND. . .James Harrison “Bubba” Sellers, a resident of Opelika, Alabama, formerly of Headland, died Thursday afternoon, May 28, 2020., at his home. He was 80.


     Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 31, 2020, in the Pinckard Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. and (Colonel, U. S. Army Retired) James “Dusty” Gray officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.  No handshakes or hugging, please. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may sign a guest register at the mortuary Saturday.


     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church “Bridge to Tomorrow” Building Fund, 301 East Church Street, Headland, AL 36345 or to the Blanche R. Solomon Memorial Library, 17 Park Street, Headland, AL 36345.


     Mr. Sellers was born and reared in Headland, son of the late James Coley Sellers and Blanche Dovie Hasty Sellers. He was a 1957 graduate of Headland High School. Mr. Sellers served his country in the Army National Guard, Headland Unit, which was activated to California during the Berlin Crisis. He lived in Headland most of his lifetime and also lived in Dothan before moving to Opelika in 2018. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland where he had served as a Deacon. Mr. Sellers was retired  as Chief Inspector, Weights and Measures, with the Alabama Department of Agriculture. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Sellers Gray and Jane Sellers Snell and a brother, Terry Sellers.


     Surviving relatives include his wife, Sue Borland Sellers; a daughter, Suzanne Sellers Worthy (Allen), Selma, Al; and a son, Stephen McLane Sellers (Laura), Opelika; a brother, Jerry Mack Sellers (Cheryl), Headland; a brother-in-law, Bill Snell, Headland; three grandchildren, Nicholas Worthy, Claire Worthy and Albritton Sellers; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Borland family, Ann Borland, Linda Borland Lott (Thom) and Mac Borland (DeLane), several nieces and nephews.
