JAMES  HAROLD  MITCHELL, JR.

 

ABBEVILLE. . .James Harold “Jimmy” Mitchell, Jr., a resident of Abbeville, died early Sunday morning, January 20, 2019, at his home. He was 58.

            Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 24, 2019, in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery with Masonic Rites to be given by the Brown’s Crossroads Masonic Lodge No. 529. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36311.

            Jimmy Mitchell was born in Birmingham, Alabama and was reared in various locations in the eastern United States while his father served in the U. S. Navy. Jimmy was a 1979 graduate of Abbeville High School. After working in several states, he returned to Abbeville in 1995. Jimmy was formerly employed by Daniel Construction Company at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant and also in nuclear construction in other states as a Nuclear Safety Technician. He is preceded in death by his father, James Harold Mitchell, Sr., and a sister, Sharon Beth Mitchell.

            Surviving relatives include his mother, Betty Dunnie Mitchell, Abbeville; a sister, Karen Mitchell Sims, Kingston, OK: two brothers, Gary Mitchell, Dothan; and Troy Mitchell (Stacey), Cairo, GA; niece, Adrienne Sims, nephews, Wesley Sims (Kahle), Cody Braley and Kyle Braley (Elizabeth); great-nieces, Jessa Sims and Callie Braley.
