Mr. Jimmie Keith “Huggy” Edison of Samson, Alabama passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at his home.  He was 59.


A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Samson First Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Branch officiating. directing. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m.


In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Camp Victory, 363 Victory Circle, Samson, AL 36477.  


Huggy was born July 28, 1962 in Andalusia, AL to the late Jimmie Ray Edison and Sylvia Lucas Lankford.  He was a true family man, who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who often said” Teach your children to hunt and you will never have to be hunting your children.” He enjoyed coaching youth sports when his children were growing up and believed in investing in the lives of his children and other people’s children. He always made sure that every child had a ride to and from the ballfield. Huggy was a “people person” who never met a stranger. He worked many years as an assembler in the manufacturing industry at Dorsey Trailers and L3 in Crestview, FL.  


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, J.T. Jackson; one brother, Steve Ray Edison and one sister, Jana Edison Stephens.


Huggy is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Cathy Merritt Edison of Samson; three children, Beth Edison Jackson of Opp, AL, Lucas Keith Edison (Nikki) and Samuel Steve Edison (Amber) all of Samson; seven grandchildren, Gracy Jackson, Liz Ann Jackson, Carly Edison, Tinsley Edison, John Luke Edison, Grant Edison and Willow Edison; stepfather, Fred Lankford of Andalusia, AL; stepmother, Janice Edison of Brantley, AL; two stepbrothers, Kevin Atwell of Brantley, AL and Robert Lankford of Andalusia, AL; stepsister, Terri Lankford Stewart of  Andalusia, AL;  a number of special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
