ABBEVILLE. . .James Louie McCoy, a resident of Abbeville, died Tuesday afternoon, July 20, 2021 in a Dothan hospital. He was 80.


   Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, July 22, 2021, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Henry Fullington officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.


   Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, c/o Henry Reynolds, 3945 County Road 40, Newville, AL 36353.


   Louie McCoy was born and reared in Henry County, near Newville, son of the late Daniel Albert McCoy and Georgia Pearl Arnold McCoy. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he formerly served as a Deacon. Louie was retired from WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville after forty-three years employment. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd McCoy and Robert W. McCoy.


   Surviving relatives include his wife, Joyce Volf McCoy; a daughter, Denise White (David); three brothers, Jack McCoy, Harold McCoy (Lois), and Billy McCoy (Libby), all of Abbeville; a sister-in-law, Dot McCoy Long; five grandchildren, Chelse Culpepper, Caylee Culpepper, Nichole Thomas (Jamie), Justin Culpepper (Stephanie) and Grayson White; a sister-in-law, Judy Carroll (Gil); a brother-in-law, Jerry Volf (Debbie); several nieces and nephews.
