James Thomas Sanders of Chancellor, AL passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. He was 79 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, AL with Bro. Zachary Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the El Bethel Baptist Church cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral Home on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Mr. Sanders was born in EL Reno, OK to the late Robert Ford and Martha Grace Howell Sanders. James graduated from Coffee Springs High School in 1962 where he was the class Valedictorian. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. He also worked as an aircraft mechanic and as an amateur photographer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth B. Sanders; one sister, Gloria Wickham; one brother-in-law, Terry Sansom; uncle and aunt, Oscar and Bessie Howell.

He is survived by one daughter, Paula Mullis; one son, Paul Sanders; nine grandchildren, Trevor Mullis, Savannah Pearce (Levi), Jeremy Mullis (Jessica), Dustin Sanders (Jayna), Polly Sanders, Levi Dunn, Thomas Dunn, Shyla Dunn, and Malachi Brown; 12 great grandchildren, Chandler Pearce, Rowan Pearce, Jaslyn Mullis, Mason Mullis, Braxton Mullis, Emerson Mullis, Abigail Blackburn, Madison Blackburn, Sophia Sanders, Thomas Sanders, Vivian Dunn, and Sophia Dunn; sisters, Barbara Givens (David), and Margie Sansom; cousins, James Joseph Howell (Tammy); and many nieces and nephews.
