James William Hataway age 94, a resident of Elba, Alabama passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 beginning at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dewey Enfinger and Rev. Bob Hataway officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Hayes Funeral Home on Monday evening, March 22, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted or those wishing to make memorials are ask to do so to the Mt. Gilead Cemetery Fund, c/o 7638 Hwy 87, Elba, Alabama 36323, in honor of Mr. Hataway.

He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Mary Jane Hataway, Daughter - Jowonder Kay (Greg) Farris, Son - L.C. Hataway, and Son - Freddie (Tina) Hataway, all of Elba, Alabama. He also leaves behind Grandson - Chris Farris, Bartlesville, OK, Granddaughter - Tracy Carter, Mobile, AL, Grandson - Josh Hataway, Elba, AL, Grandson - Michael (Ashley) Hataway, Elba, AL, Granddaughter - Nicole Hataway, Elba, AL, Granddaughter - K.C. (Jamison) Baker, Elba, AL, Granddaughter-in-law - Randi Hataway, Elba, AL, along with Great Grandchildren - Owen, Evan, Tabitha, Jade, Landry, Palmer, Asypen, & Amelia.

Mr. Hataway was preceded in death by his parents, Connie Pearl Hataway and Cary D. Hataway, by a brother, Arnold Hataway, a daughter-in-law Reita Hataway, as well as by a grandson, Blake Hataway.
