The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. Monday and continue until service time. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in the Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, Alabama with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing.

Wylie was born August 12, 1934, in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina to the late Lindsey and Foy Hazelwood Brannen.  He was a 1952 graduate of Whitmire High School and a 1956 graduate of Clemson University.  While attending Clemson, he proudly played the trumpet in the Clemson Tiger marching band.  His working career was in the textile industry which eventually led him and his family to Geneva in 1978.  He retired from Clinton Mills after 22 years.  Wylie was a member of the Geneva First United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir.  He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, walking and dancing the jitterbug with Dean, the love of his life.  Wylie also served in the National Guard.  He was an advisor, encourager, and a gentle giant with a heart of gold.  Wylie will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Dean Brannen; a brother, Lindsey Brannen, Jr., as well as two sisters: Violet Harris and Emily Freeman preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Deana Washburn and husband Brandon of Hoover, Alabama; a grandson and the apple of his eye, Wyler Washburn, also of Hoover; one sister, Nancy Kelley of Columbia, South Carolina; a niece who was like a sister to him, Patricia de'Treville of Greenwood, South Carolina; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to DaySpring Hospice, especially Brittney and Daisy for their professional service and loving care shown to their loved one.  Also, a special thank you to his caregiver of more than three years, Sherel Crews, who was like a daughter to him.

The following special friends and textile associates will serve as pallbearers: Jerome Stuckey, Max Padgett, Daniel Coleman, Scott Seay, Ken Ellis and Ronald Edwards.
