JANET  TURNER  SHADELL

ABBEVILLE. . .Janet Turner Shadell, a resident of Abbeville, died late Wednesday night, May 14, 2014, at her home. She was 69.

            Funeral services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Saturday, May 17, 2014, in the Judson Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

            Mrs. Shadell was born and reared in the Screamer Community of Henry County, daughter of the late Marvin Turner and Ila Bell Chancey Turner. She was an active member of the Judson Bapist Church. Mrs. Shadell was formerly employed as Activities Director at the Ft. Gaines Health & Rehabilitation. In earlier years, she worked at WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville. Mrs. Shadell and her husband provided a nursing home ministry for the Judson Baptist Church at the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility and also the Ft. Gaines Health & Rehabilitation.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Foy Deal, and Perry Tony Turner, and her step-mother, Edna Puckett Turner.

            Surviving relatives include her husband, Charley Wayne Shadell, Abbeville; a son, Wayne Shadell (Tracy), Headland; three granddaughters, Hayden Shadell, Katie Shadell, and Aubrey Shadell; a sister, Peggy Harris (James), Graceville, FL; and two brothers, Lamar Turner (Marilyn), and Andy Turner (Brenda), all of Abbeville.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Jones, Chris Turner, Marcus Turner, Clint Davis, Aaron Davis, and Casey Cox.
