Janice Marie Howell Bowden of Samson, AL passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. She was 83 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the Samson First Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Bowden was born on April 26, 1940, in Enterprise, AL to the late James Ralph and Ellen Tempie Thomas Howell. Janice attended Goodman Schools. She worked at Bryson Implement John Deere Store in Samson, AL for approximately 40 years. She was also a lifelong member of the Samson First Methodist Church of Samson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Maylon Bowden; siblings, James Lloyd “Chick” Howell, Roger Warren Howell, Harry Grant Howell, Ruby Jean Bryan, Randolph “Ranny” Howell; one grandson Dennis Lee Bowden.

Survivors include her four sons, Henry Don Bowden, Mobile, AL, Gregory Dennis Bowden (Linda) Enterprise, AL, Bobby Royce Bowden (Kelly), Headland, AL, Robert Maxwell (Gayla) Samson, AL; two sisters, Margie Louise Bowden, Enterprise, AL and Wanda Sue(Lamar) Thornton, Enterprise, AL; seven grandchildren Jeffery Allen Cauley (Ivy), Opp, AL, Gregory Dallas Bowden (Tracey), Samson, AL, Broc Steele Bowden, Headland, AL, Henry Martin “Marty” Bowden, Samson, AL, Kelsie Lee Alford, Samson, AL, Mikayla Alford Dean, Enterprise, AL, Robert Jacob “Jake” Bowden, Houston, TX, and several great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Henry Martin “Marty” Bowden, Robert Jacob “Jake” Bowden, Jeffery Allen Cauley, Gregory Dallas Bowden, Broc Steele Bowden, and Thomas Michael McCaskey.
