A celebration of Janie’s life will be held, Monday, October 9, 2023, at 11:00am in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be accepting friends an hour prior. Janie will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Janie Arnold, a woman of grace, kindness, and enduring spirit, left this world on October 5, 2023, after an extended illness. Born on April 8, 1949, to William and Mary Tedder in Dothan, Alabama, Janie translated her love for life and people into everything she did, right up to her final moments at the age of 74. She touched countless lives, and her memory will forever warm the hearts of those who knew her.

Janie's friendly disposition and loving nature often turned acquaintances into friends, making her dearly loved and widely respected. She was the perfect embodiment of thoughtfulness, always putting her family and friends ahead of herself.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 49 years, Rodney Arnold, Sr., who she met on a blind date where they rode motorcycles with close friends. She also leaves behind her son, Jeffrey (Cristal) Arnold. Janie's love and guidance also extended to her two grandchildren, Austin (Cara) Arnold and Madison (Brad) Staley, and three great-grandchildren, Eli Todd Arnold, Ivy Jo Arnold, and Emryn Kate Staley. She is also survived by her brother, Greg Tedder (Pam); sister, Kay McCleskey; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as two special friends, Jack and Shelia Gresham.

Preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Tedder and her son, Rodney Arnold Jr. Janie's absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life. Yet, her life remains a testament to what it means to live fully, love deeply, and leave a profound impact on the hearts of many.

Janie worked at JC Penney, serving in the jewelry department for many years until 1990. Janie found joy in many simple pleasures, such as camping at Whiteoak in Eufaula and tending to day lilies. She enjoyed many things in life like music, snorkeling, and shopping. Janie lived in the Florida Keys for ten years which led to her love of the ocean and seafood. She made many trips to the beach just to eat at her favorite restaurants, Bayou Bill’s Crab House and Red Lobster being some of her favorites. Janie enjoyed traveling the country with her loving husband, especially their many trips to the mountains, beaches, and Alabama Safari Park Zoo.

Janie Arnold was a woman who enjoyed life, embraced her interests, and adored her family. She lived her life in full measure, becoming an epitome of kindness, friendship, thoughtfulness, and love.
