ABBEVILLE. . .Jason Hughes, a resident of Abbeville, died Monday night, March 25, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 53.


            Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, March 28, 2024, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, near Headland, with Reverend Jean Watson officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


            In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holman-Abbeville Mortuary to help with funeral expenses.


            Jason Hughes was born and reared in Abbeville where he lived most of his lifetime. He was formerly employed as a Policeman. Jason was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Headland. He was preceded in death by his father, Eldridge Carey Hughes, and two sisters, Joy Hughes Brooks and Melanie Hughes Dennis.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Kasey Miller (Chris), Phenix City; and Brooke Hughes, Abbeville; a son, Matthew Hughes, Eufaula; his mother, Thelda Whitehead Hughes, Abbeville; a sister, Elaine Culp (Bob), Ozark; two brothers, Larry Hughes (Lynne), Abbeville; and Jimmy Hughes, Abbeville; grandchildren, Matthew Miller and Madison Miller; and the mother of his children, Sissy Williamson (Donnie), Abbeville.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Tim Tharpe, Billy Ormes, Tim Ingram, Kenny Lightbourne, Daniel Culp, Jason Bradford, Larry Hughes, and Caleb Benefield.
