Jean Snellgrove Jones, 81, departed this life peacefully on December 6, 2018 in Tallahassee, Florida.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Meadowlawn Memorial Park in Enterprise, AL with Rev. Tara Chamble officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing for family members and close friends of the family.

Mrs. Jones was born on September 12, 1937 in Geneva County, AL to the late Kenith White Snellgrove and Mary Lois Spears Snellgrove.  She was a 1955 graduate of Coffee Springs High School.  She was married to the late Gerald Hoyt Jones, Sr. for 50 years and resided in Coffee Springs, AL until September 2018.  She was a faithful wife, loving mother of four children, and a devoted caregiver.  She worked as a Civil Servant in various positions at the Fort Rucker Army Aviation Base and also served as a Council Member for the Town of Coffee Springs.  She was a member of the Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Samson, AL.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; infant daughter, Felicia; parents, Kenith and Lois and sister, Louise Weeks.

Jean is survived by one son, Gerald Hoyt Jones, Jr. (Inga) of Eufaula, AL; two daughters, Carmen Maria Hancock (Al) and Leah Owens-Ashey (Mike) of Tallahassee, FL; sister, Vivian Hardwick (Charles) of Cuthbert, GA; ten grandchildren:  Catherine and Dylan Jones of Birmingham, AL, Alex Hancock of Baltimore, MD, Ashley, Adam and Anders Hancock of Tallahassee, FL, Tom Ashey of Phoenix, AZ, Erin Owens and Greg Ashey of Tallahassee, FL and Rachel Owens of Miami, FL; and a host of other relatives, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the charity of your choice in Mrs. Jones memory.
