JEAN  STINSON CULPEPPER



ABBEVILLE. . .Jean Stinson Culpepper, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday night, June 30, 2019, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. She was 90.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 2, 2019, in the First Baptist Church of Abbeville with Reverend Teddy Ward and Reverend Ryan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. Tuesday in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Dawn Pitchford Fund, Children’s Hospital of Alabama, c/o Sharon Likos, 1600 7th Avenue, South, Birmingham, AL 35233.


            Mrs. Culpepper was born and reared in Henry County, daughter of the late Walter Eric Stinson and Willie Mae Wells Stinson. She lived in Abbeville all her adult lifetime. Mrs. Culpepper was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abbeville. Mrs. Culpepper was retired from the State Farm Insurance Agency in Abbeville and was employed by Larry and Mary Walker who have remained true and faithful friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Culpepper, a granddaughter, Sheri Dawn Pitchford, a sister, Doris Bostick, and three brothers, Grant Stinson, Charles Stinson and Bobby Ray Stinson.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Janice Pitchford (Larry), and Sherry Flournoy (Steve), all of Abbeville; a grandson, Dr. Jonathan Pitchford (Genevieve), a great-granddaughter, Dawn Annabelle Pitchford, all of Ocean Springs, MS; two sisters, Peggy Cummings Jackson, Abbeville and Patsy Clark, Eufaula.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Kurt Cummings, David Cummings, Chris Cummings, Ray Stinson, Marc Nelson, Darden Kirby and Keith Crowley.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility, especially the 200 wing for compassionate care and kindness shown to “Miss Jean”.
