On January 30, 2024, Jerry passed away peacefully at Southeast Health Hospital surrounded by his family.  He was 62 years old.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Dr. Ben Bowden officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until service time.

Jerry was born in Opp, Alabama on September 15, 1961.  He attended Opp High School and was proud to be raised in “God’s Country” as he often referred to Opp.  He was a skilled craftsman; learning several trades and ultimately creating a lasting legacy as an excellent carpenter.  He built projects for customers all over the Wiregrass and in his new hometown of Enterprise, AL.  As in all things, Jerry was humble and fair in his work—and made many friends through his business.  His legacy lives on through countless satisfied customers, structures, and projects that will live on.

Jerry spent the last 21 years with the love of his life, Karla Justice, in Enterprise.  Like anything else he did, Jerry gave himself whole heartedly to the task of being a husband to Karla and dad to her children.  Jerry loved unconditionally and was as great a friend and companion as there is.  Much of his free time was spent giving to others—always available for weekend side projects, fixing things for loved ones and anything else that was asked.,  He loved Alabama football, fishing and beach trips with his love, Karla.  He was a proud and wonderful pawpaw to his  grandchildren.  As with all things, he gave his whole heart and loved unconditionally.  He loved the Lord and walked a life worth emulating, full of humility and love.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry “Pete” and Ruby Lee Johnson; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Weant; and a niece, Ashley Weant.

Survivors include his wife, Karla Justice, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Ashley Galbraith (Stan), Tuscaloosa, AL; 2 sons, Steven Justice (Kathryn), Dothan, AL, Destin Johnson, Opp, AL; 2 sisters, Shirley Weant, Birmingham, AL, Charlotte Hagood (Michael), Birmingham, AL; brother, Gary Johnson (Gayle), Opp, AL; 5 grandchildren.
