Mr. Jerry Malone Burns of Coffee Springs, AL, age 81, passed away at Flowers Hospital on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home, Geneva, AL with Rev. Keith Martin officiating.  Interment will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery, Enterprise, AL with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Burns memory to the First Baptist Church of Coffee Springs or to the Coffee Springs Volunteer Fire Department.

Jerry was born July 2, 1942, in Coffee Springs, AL and attended Coffee Springs School.

Mr. Burns served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1979. He fought very bravely during the Vietnam War.   After his military retirement, he was employed at Fort Rucker, AL as a bus driver and retired in 2000.

Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many.  He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He loved cooking for the church and was always willing to help the people in his community.

Jerry attended the First Baptist Church of Coffee Springs, AL.

Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Lester and Regna Phillips Burns; a brother, William D. “Bill” Burns; a nephew, Gregory William Burns; and a very special sister-in-law, Amy Thames.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Regina Thames Burns; daughter, Tammy Burns Frascone (David) of Annandale, VA; grandson, Quentin Malone Frascone of Annandale, VA; granddaughter, Amy Julianna Frascone of Sandy, UT; three sisters-in-laws Cindy Beard (Wayne) of Mentone, AL, Tracy Minich of Stone Mountain, GA, and Carol Burns of Geneva, AL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
