Jerry “Max” Lindsey (PaPaw), age 89, of Enterprise, AL passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday April 11, 2022.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Searcy Funeral Home with Rev. Louie Reynolds and Dr. Michael Mynatt officiating.  Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church Senior Division, 500 Alberta Street, Enterprise, AL 36331.


Mr. Lindsey was preceded in death by his parents Howard Lindsey & Corine Spears Lindsey, sister Sylvia Brown, son Mark Lindsey, and son-in-law Ricky Childree.


Survivors include his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 70 years Amorette Paschal Lindsey, three children Steve Lindsey (Hermitage, TN), Teresa Childree (Fairhope, AL.), Joni Sartwell (Wayne) Pike Road, AL. Five grandchildren Bucky Childree, Molly Hall (Parker), Caroline Sartwell, Hayden Lindsey, Riley Lindsey. Three great grandchildren Ellis Hall, Mayton Hall, Parker Hall Jr. Brother-in-law Arlan Brown, Sister-in-law Sarah Nell Williams, numerous nieces & nephews & friends.


Mr. Lindsey graduated from Coffee County High School and attended Auburn University until he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served in the Korean War. Mr. Lindsey then went on to graduate from Troy University and worked at Fort Rucker during the Vietnam War era, retiring in 1989 as Chief Budget Analyst. For 62 years he was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon. He enjoyed the quiet farm life living just outside of town spending most of his time with his loving wife & family while working on the farm, fishing & hunting. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
