It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jerry Michael “Mike” Whitaker. His passing took place surrounded by family in the early hours on November 9, 2023. Many remember Mr. Whitaker for his 37 dedicated years as Principal of Geneva County High School. He was known for his wit and banter along with molding and changing lives of numerous students, employees, and parents. 

He was the beloved son and brother of Marvin and Mary Whitaker, Marcia Reightnour, Mark Whitaker, Mitchell Whitaker, and Marvin Whitaker. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Whitaker and his children Jeremy (Kari) Whitaker, Tennille (Yancy) Whitaker-Matthews, Chad (Elizabeth) Whitaker, and Andee (Derek) Johnston. He is and was the proud Grandpa to Charlie Banks Johnston, Collins & Ander Whitaker, Truman, Conner, Yancy & Ellis Matthews, and Carli Parker, Braydon Whitaker, Jaci Parker & Raelee Whitaker. 

A Remembrance of Life will take place at 2pm on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford, Alabama
