HEADLAND…Jess Thomas Beck, a resident of Headland and formerly of Abbeville,  died Wednesday afternoon, October 11, 2023, at Extendicare Health & Rehab.  He was 76.

            A private burial will be held at a later date in the Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Abbeville.  Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations in charge of arrangements.

            Jess Beck was born in Lakehurst, New Jersey, son of the late Jess B. Beck and Betty L Blackwell Beck.  He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.  Mr. Beck was formerly employed as a Metro Bus Driver with the State of Washington.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Beck and a brother-in-law, Keith Morris.

            Surviving relatives include a step-son, Stephen Dansby (Lynn), Headland; two sisters, Patricia Martin (Clifford), Grandview, WA., and Bonnie Morris, Yakima, WA., along with numerous nieces and nephews.

            Mr. Beck was truly adored and loved by the staff at Azalea Court Assisted Living in Headland where he resided.
