ABBEVILLE. . .Jimmy Donald Garrett, a resident of Abbeville, formerly of Headland, died Monday morning, May 2, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. He was 86.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Wednesday, May 4, 2022, in the Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery with Reverend George Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Jimmy Garrett was born and reared in Shelby County, Alabama, son of the late Russell Lee Garrett and Rhoda McDonald Garrett. He lived in Headland most of his adult lifetime before moving to Abbeville in 2008. Jimmy was self-employed for many years as the owner and operator of Garrett Auto Sales in Headland. He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Frances Louise Green Garrett; two daughters, Mary Bilak and Katherine Garrido, and three sons, Donald Garrett, Ben Garrett and Gary Garrett, four sisters, Eleanor Thompson, Rhonda Faye Burgess, Callie Ann Fennell and Peggy Garrett Benton, and a brother, Harvey Garrett; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
