ASHFORD. . .Jimmy Ray Etheridge, a resident of Ashford, died Saturday morning, June 18, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. He was 82.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 20, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Bill Cannon officiating. Private graveside services for the family will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery, near Pansey. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center, 795 Ross Clark Circle, Suite 1, Dothan, AL 36303.

            Mr. Etheridge was a lifelong resident of Ashford, son of the late Eugie Franklin Etheridge and Missie Belle Peterson Etheridge. He served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps. Mr. Etheridge was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a retired from Georgia Pacific at Cedar Springs, GA as a Power House Foreman. After retirement, he was employed by Wiregrass Gin. Mr. Etheridge was also engaged in farming most of his adult lifetime. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edwina Hall Etheridge, a sister, Hazel Anglin and a brother, Tom Etheridge.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Kathy Chapman Etheridge; two daughters, Melinda Etheridge Wilson (Cop), Headland; and Cynthia Etheridge Green, Dothan; a son, Steven Ray Etheridge, Dothan; a step-daughter, Amanda Hager (Joey), Ashford; a step-son, Corey Nichols, Portland, Oregon; a sister-in-law, Virginia Etheridge, Ashford; four grandchildren, Whitney Shepherd (Andrew), Ashley Ziegenfelder (Ryan), Shelby Johnson (Andrew), and Noah Green (Cara), three great-grandchildren, Lucas Shepherd, Anna Blake Shepherd and Booker Ziegenfelder and one great-grandson on the way; three step-grandchildren, Destiny Robinson (Bailey), Aidan Hager and Andy Hager.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Noah Green, Andrew Johnson, Ryan Ziegenfelder, Andrew Shepherd, Mark Croom and Dwayne Knight.
